How To Get People To Read Your Blog - Traffic Building Strategies

Today, I'm going to cover a few topics on how to get traffic to your website. This isn't an all end guide on how to get traffic to your website, but it should help a fairly new website help build up their traffic. Before you start looking to build traffic make sure you have some type of traffic tracking software installed on your host. I personally use Google Analytics and I use Host Gator for hosting. This site is hosted through Host Gator on the Baby Package. Okay, so you already have your site up and running and you are literally seeing no traffic coming to your website. You spent thousands of hours writing unique content or outsourcing article writing to people so you know for a fact that your content is unique. First you have to ask yourself this. Why would someone want to read my articles? Do they provide a ton of value to my visitors? If they don't then you might want to look over what you have published and working on making your content more interesting and valuable to your readers. Secondly, is your website just promoting products that you are making commissions or did you actually put honestly, integrity, and heart into your articles. If you don't believe in what you have to say then why should anybody else?

Once you have those questions covered, and you know that your content is unique and valuable and you still aren't getting any traffic then you need to start optimizing your website for search engines, commonly referred to as search engine optimization. Optimizing your sites to appeal to search engines such as Google and Yahoo will bolster your publicity of your site to the world ten-fold. Open up Google's Keyword Tool and just start typing in keywords that are highly relevant to your site. If your site is about review hair salon products then type in keywords such as hair salon products, hair salon reviews, hair salon product review and the list goes on. Enter the captcha and click the grey search button. Google will find a list of keywords that are related to the keywords you just typed in. Google will show you which keywords get the most and least traffic and what the competition level is for these keywords to rank for. If Google gives you a list that is too small then click the check box on the left of the word keyword and click the button More Like These and click Selected. Google will find more keywords related to your keywords. Once you have your list of keywords, click the phrase checkbox in the left hand corner of your screen. What this does is give you the traffic numbers of those exact keywords not the broad traffic numbers. You always want to use exact match to see exactly how many people are typing in your keywords on a monthly basis.

Sort through the keywords and copy and paste the keywords that have a respectable search volume of about 5,000 exact match volume or less. These are the keywords you want to target in your articles. Even copy the keywords that have a search volume of 100 monthly because these keywords will generally be alot easier for you to rank number one in Google for.

Okay, so you have your list of keywords, now you need to optimize your titles, content, and URLs for your articles. If you want to rank for the keyword Hair Salon Products in Google. The title of your post should be "The Top 10 Hair Salon Products In The World." You want to make your article catchy and to entice readers to go ahead and read your article. Also you want to mention the exact keyword atleast once in the beginning of your first paragraph, if you can. Then mention it another one to times in your article, possible once more in the second paragraph and then in the last paragraph. You want your keyword to be mentioned roughly 2% of your article.

Now to optimize your URL, you want the URL name to be the title of your post. If you are using Wordpress, log into your Wordpress Dashboard and click on the permalinks button under settings. Click the circle under Custom Structure and type in /%postname%/ and click save changes. What this will do will make your end URL the same as the post title you type into Wordpress. It amazes me how many websites don't optimize their URLs for their keywords. Once you complete these steps your articles will be optimized to rank for their respective keywords in Google.
